Vitamin E is an essential micronutrient that 89% of Americans don’t get enough of. Yet studies show that supplementing with the most common form of vitamin E, alpha-tocopherol, doesn’t improve health over the long term—and, in fact, can increase the risk of cancer and heart disease. Bio-Avail E+ contains 300 mg of delta- and gamma-tocotrienols, a recently discovered form of vitamin E that has far greater health benefits than alpha-tocopherol and none of its long-term risks. Tocotrienols have a wide range of positive effects, including improving lipid profiles, promoting cellular health, reducing inflammation, supporting healthy blood sugar levels, and improving bone health. The tocotrienols in Bio-Avail E+ are extracted from the annatto plant, the richest known source of tocotrienols, with no tocopherols.
The delta- and gamma-isomers are the forms that are primarily responsible for the unique benefits of tocotrienols. Bio-Avail E+ contains 100% delta- and gamma-tocotrienols extracted from the annatto plant, with no tocopherols. This is important because tocopherols—which are found in most vitamin E supplements—can counteract the beneficial effects of tocotrienols.
Most studies on the benefits of tocotrienols have used doses in the range of 200 to 300 mg/d. One daily serving of Bio-Avail E+ contains 300 mg of tocotrienols, which helps ensure that you will benefit from taking tocotrienols.
Most vitamin E supplements on the market contain tocopherols—particularly alpha-tocopherol. Studies have shown that supplementing with alpha-tocopherol over the long term may increase the risk of cancer and heart disease. On the other hand, research indicates that tocotrienols support cellular function and promote cardiovascular health.
Tocotrienols activate several compounds in the body that support muscles and joints.
Tocotrienols support healthy cholesterol and triglyceride metabolism, help maintain normal blood sugar and insulin levels, and promote normal vascular function and blood pressure.
Tocotrienols may help protect our cells from the many challenges we face in the modern world, from increased exposure to environmental toxins to poor diet to chronic stress.
Tocotrienols improve bone health and support the healthy function of the eyes through several different mechanisms.
The active ingredients in Bio-Avail E+, delta- and gamma-tocotrienols, are not heat sensitive. But the gel caps themselves can break if exposed to high temperatures for an extended period. We include the cold pack to prevent that from happening. The pack, and the Bio-Avail E+ bottle, will likely be warm when you receive them. That’s fine, and it won’t affect the stability or efficacy of the active ingredients. If the gel caps are broken or damaged, please reach out to support@adaptnaturals.com so we can issue you a replacement.
Bio-Avail E+ is best taken with food. We recommend taking the single gel-cap serving with dinner, but it can be taken at any time of day.
Studies have shown that alpha-tocopherol, the most common form of vitamin E that is typically found in supplements, may interfere with the benefits of tocotrienols at higher doses. (https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/article-abstract/205797, https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/epdf/10.1161/ATV.0000000000000153) For this reason, we suggest limiting your intake of alpha-tocopherols in supplements to 10 mg per day.
We get about 10 to 15 mg/d of tocopherols in our diet, mostly from foods like nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils. At this level, tocopherols have a beneficial or neutral effect.
